During this building inspection, we found there to be major cracking to the foundation walls. The cracks were substantial and developed from the outside of the premise, running right through to the inside of premise. The cracks measured approximately 15mm across, making them a significant defect within the property.
Cracked foundations can lead to framing issues, roof issues, problems with doors and windows and even leaks in basement walls. Correction of foundation and structural problems can be very costly and occasionally foundation cracks will be a warning sign of other structural issues with a home. It’s important to always have your premises thoroughly checked for obvious cracks and possible indications of cracking during a building inspection.
